Kou Xiong

August 5, 1989 — August 16, 2023

On August 5, 1989 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Kou Xiong was born to Neng Yee Xiong (father) and Va Thao
Xiong (mother).
Kou grew up in a Christian household during his childhood and was baptized in 2004.
When attending a youth conference in 2006, he had an epiphany that changed his view of life forever
and devoted his life to follow God’s leading. From that moment on, Kou pursued to glorify God in all his
endeavors and achievements.
He graduated from Woodbury Senior High School in 2007. Afterwards, he studied for two years at
Century College and transferred to the University of Northwestern in Minnesota in 2009. Kou graduated
with a Bachelor of Arts in History and minor in Bible and Chinese Studies in 2012. Shortly after, he was
accepted to Wheaton College Grad School in 2014 and graduated with a Master of Arts in Church
History in 2016.
With the knowledge he gained through his education, Kou served the church passionately and
vigorously. He was an active leader for many years in both children and young adult ministries at his
local church, Twin Cities Alliance Church. Kou found various ways to support other churches and
organizations by building up fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and teaching them the importance of
retaining church history.
In addition to serving the church, he was a caring and diligent worker in the several jobs that he had
throughout his life.
Kou loved his family and spent as much time as he could with them. He enjoyed reading books, cycling,
and practicing martial arts as hobbies that helped him grow inwardly and closer to God. Kou loved deep
conversations with close friends and family.
On the evening of Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Kou passed away through a tragic bicycle accident at
the age of 34. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend,
and example of Jesus.
Kou is survived by his father, mother, brother, (Fong Xiong), and three sisters (Mai Nyua Xiong, Colleen
Xiong, and Amy Xiong).
