Larry Gruenewald

Age 83, of St. Paul, retired 3M Chemist

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 16, 2023.  He will be sadly missed by wife, Betty; children, Tracy Gieser, Keith (Lisa) Gruenewald and Kari (Ross) Munson; step-children, Larry, Dave (Mary), Dennis and Jim Burdick; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Mundt; other family and friends.

After graduating from Osceola High School in Wisconsin, Larry went on to graduate from Hamline University and then earned his Masters and PhD from the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, WI. Larry spent his entire career with 3M as a chemist where he held two patents in adhesive technology.

Larry was an active member of St. Andrew's Church in Mahtomedi where he dedicated much of his time and heart to Mission Jamaica and Habitat for Humanity.

Larry was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan as well an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and U of M Gopher Basketball.

Larry enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and attending his grandkid's sporting events.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be Thursday, May 4, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at ST. ANDREW’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Mahtomedi.

Memorials are preferred to Mission Jamaica.
