Lieng Chao Tann was born on January 1, 1921 in Sisophon (Battambang Province), Cambodia, and died peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on Sunday, May 5, 2019. He was the son of Suon Tann and Kum Phan. He married Ty Lee and had two sons and six daughters. He worked as a principal of the Chinese School in Sisophon, Cambodia. Lieng and his family came to the United States on August 28, 1980, where he lived in St. Paul and Maplewood. He first became a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, then with his family joined Christ Lutheran Church on Capitol Hill in St. Paul, where he worshipped until his death.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bradshaw Funeral and Cremation Services, 1078 Rice St., St. Paul and one hour before the service at 9:00 am on Friday. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10, at 10 am at Christ Lutheran Church on Capitol Hill, 105 West University Avenue, St. Paul, where Lieng Tann was a member for many years.
Committal service follows the funeral at Roselawn Cemetery.
Lieng Tann is survived by his daughters, Kim Ly Tann (husband Seng Chhuon), Kim Lay Tann (husband Ang Ly), Kim Huon Tann (husband Yin Ung), Kim Yon Tann, Kim Huor Tann (husband James Erlandson) and Huy Tann (husband Chantha Himmtann),nephew Bo Tann (wife Wanidda Tann), and 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family, grandchildren, his many relatives and friends.
