Lila P. Thompson
Age 101, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 24, 2022.
Lila is preceded in death by her husband Howard B. Thompson; son Robert J. Thompson; grandson Russ Oldenborg; Daughter-in-law Pauline Thompson; siblings Helen, Martin and Art. She will be dearly missed by her children Sharon (Ed) Oldenborg, Barry Thompson, Patricia (Craig Wodnick) Lovelette, Pamela Bartol; Daughter-in-law Peggy Thompson; grandchildren Renee (Mike) Extrand, Kelly (James) Pearson, Christopher (Jen) Thompson, Dustin (Racquel) Wakefield, Megan Thompson; granddaughter-in-law Carrie Oldenborg; great- grandchildren Jessie, Jeff, Hadley, Finley, and Fletcher; many other loving family and friends.
Lila grew up in South Minneapolis, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939, married Howard Thompson and raised five children. They built a life together filled with family, fun get-togethers, road trips, cruises and good friends. She taught us how to make lefse. When Howard could no longer travel, she continued to see the world with her sister-in-law, Edna, and bus trips with her Eastern Star friends. Memorable trips were to Norway and Alaska. When her mobility declined, Lila moved to the Masonic Home. She loved to play BINGO and rarely missed Wheel of Fortune on TV.
Lila is a 50-yr. member of Minnehaha OES #37 and a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Lila lived her life with joy. She never complained and always said thank you. She’ll be remembered for her generosity, wisdom, being famously kind, and her ability to make everyone she met feel special.
Our family is incredibly thankful for the loving care and friendship provided by the staff at the Masonic Home.
