Lillian Horejsi

Lillian O. (Hinkemeyer) Horejsi

Lillian was born in 1929, in Kimball, MN to Frederick and Balbina Hinkemeyer and grew up on the family’s farm.

She graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College at 16 and taught elementary school in the Twin Cities area.

She married Leonard J. Horejsi in 1954, and they had nearly 65 years together. They had 5 children. The couple lived in Grant (near Stillwater) for 45 years in the house that Len designed and built.

She loved her family and was the hub for news in her far-flung family. She was curious, practical, loving, thoughtful, and strong. She enjoyed a good laugh, reading and current events, family genealogy, sewing, knitting, and she made the best strawberry jam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marjorie Bernd and Sylvia Synkowski; and daughter, Diane.

She is survived by her children, Gary, Daniel (Josie), Gail (Ralph) Issa, and Colleen (Alan) Ware; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and long-time friend, Jackie Hiltunen.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, 1:00-3:00 P.M. with a time of sharing at 1:30 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIVE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater. Please wear a mask.
