Passed away peacefully amongst the love of his family on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, just days short of his 82nd birthday. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Loretta, Vern was born on April 2, 1925 to Lambert and Agnes Worms, in Greenwald, MN. Vern forever loved his farming roots. Vern entered the United States Navy and was discharged in 1944, whereupon he enlisted in the United States Army and became a Tec4 medic serving in Japan. He was discharged in 1948. Vern attended both the University of Minnesota and Dunwoody Institute. He worked for Vincent Brass and Holmsten Refrigeration prior to founding Cool Air Mechanical in 1965 where he worked until 2005, continuing to remain involved in the company thereafter. Vern and Loretta were married on June 19, 1950. Together, Vern and Loretta raised 8 children. Vern is preceded in death by his son, Mark, who died in 1974 at the age of 20. He is survived by Michael (Mary Ann); Charles (Kaye); Jeffrey (Janelle); Timothy (Christine); Susan; Christopher (Michelle) and Nancy Stumpf (Frank); 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Vern loved fishing and hunting, continuing to go on his Canadian fishing trips as late as 2005. He was the Minnesota Vikings? biggest fan, even while living in FL. Vern positively touched many, many people?s lives as a husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, coach and employer. His faith and love of God was deep and unshakeable. His love and generosity were extraordinary and representative of the wonderful man he was. Hold close and reflect upon your memories of him, for they are treasures indeed. He was a truly unique man. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at MATERNITY OF MARY CHURCH 1414 North Dale St., St. Paul. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4-8pm at BRADSHAW 4600 Greenhaven Drive at Hwy 96 (one mile west of 35E) and one hour prior to Mass at the church.
