Age 84

Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John; sons, John and wife Connie, Bob and wife Karen; daughter Pam and partner Kath; grandchildren, Josh and wife Cathy, Robin and husband Brad, and Nate; 5 great grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Ava, Riley, Ella; brother Paul and wife Jacque; niece Maren and husband Mike, grand niece Ellen; sister-in-law Robbie, and nieces Robin, Logan, and nephews Duncan, Kirk.

Adorned with adorable curls throughout her childhood in Evanston, Illinois, Chessie danced professionally with her brother, Paul, and once performed before the Queen of England. She was in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at Purdue, where she first charmed her lifetime love, John, earning her B.S. in 1943. She was a wonderful Mom to three grateful children, loving and guiding them with patient good humor. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Chicago suburb Park Ridge, and then for 41 years in the Village Church in Northbrook. Most recently she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, Minnesota, and a resident of Boutwell?s Landing. Each home in turn, was blessed by her creation of a wonderful loving atmosphere. With joy in all seasons, she observed and fed the many birds, animals, and fish who shared their woodland home on Edgewood Lane in Northbrook. Her sparkling dinner parties were delights to hundreds of friends. She was a 200+ bowler, could find the hole with her putter, and loved boating and fishing around their winter residence in Marco Island, Florida. For over 30 years she was a member of the Northbrook Service Club, volunteering thousands of hours in their resale shop to raise scholarship funds for students in need. Quietly dignified, a tender touch with internal toughness, warm and patient wife and mother, so very lovable, and forever in our hearts.

Memorial Service in the Chapel at Boutwells Landing, 5600 Norwich Parkway, Oak Park Heights, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th.

Memorial Service will be held at the Village Church-Presbyterian, 1330 Shermer Rd, Northbrook, Illinois, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th.
