Margie Wellman was born in the roaring '20's, just before the Great Depression, to Donald & Grace Thompson, joining a sister Jean Thompson (Becker) and brother, Donald Thompson II. She grew up in Stillwater, MN across the street from Pioneer Park, before it was a park, in the house with the mansored roof. She possessed great attention to complex detail from an early age and learned a strong willed work ethic from her Scots-Irish family. She graduated from Stillwater High School with high honors during WWII, earning a Tozer Scholarship to the University of MN, where she graduated with an English degree. She learned that respect and good honest hard work would take you far in life. She always had a job and excelled in what ever she set her mind to accomplish. Margie worked through her teenage school years at the storied Lowell Inn in Stillwater, and at Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park during the summers. After graduation she worked at the TCAAP in support of America's deployed military forces. Her attention to detail and language skills lead her in to the legal profession where she was the paralegal for storied attorney Solly Robbins. She left the Robbins firm to work for Roger Wm Kuehn Sr. with whom she married and had her 2 children, Summer Joy Kuehn and Roger Wm Kuehn II. After her children were born, Margie went on to work at the MN Revisor of Statutes for a decade. She married Arvid Wellman in 1977. Together they built and maintained an impressive world that benefited many and which included much travel and entertaining for the Andersen Window Corporation where Arvid worked, as well as many remodeling and land restoration projects in the St Croix Valley and in Menagha MN including an Angus cattle farm and an 18 hole golf course. Margie was an avid gardener, enthusiastic traveler, and a generous benefactor to the Stillwater Public Library, Lakeview Hospital, Gillette Children's Hospital, WWII Veterans Memorial and many other organizations she felt made America better.
