Marie Nelson

Marie Nelson, age 93, died Monday at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. she was born in Pine County and spent her childhoos on her family's farm. She later moved to Minneapolis to work. Preceded in death by her husband, Noel; her parents, Mary and Frank Breska; sisters Beatrice Douglas and Phyllis Brabec; and brothers, George and James Breska. Survived by daughter, Shirley Nelson; sister Helen urianek; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Applequist and Evelyn Lever; niece, Nancy Richardson (Herb), Barbara Larson (Glenn), Delores Karulak (Bernie), Susan Breska, Patty Jeffers (Mark), Sharon Lethert (Jim), Susan Sarrillion (Frank); nephews, Robert Brabec (Dode), Geoge Brabac (Ruth), Jim Breska (Monica), Larry Douglas (Pat), Paul Douglas , Rick Joseph, Steve Nelson and Mark Nelson (Kathy); cousin, Vivian Danneker (Otto); special friends,Pastor Lloyd, Doris and John Heroff, Ruth and Gary Nelson, and Senator Becky Lourey. Also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Janet Nelson; and granddaughters Sally Schumack (Paul) and Leah Usselman (Bob); and many other friends and relatives. Marie was a bright, loving, courageous woman who cared about and helped others. She was nonjudgmental, accepting everyone as they were. She had a spirit of adventure throughout her life. Marie loved to fly and at age 93 accompanied her daughter to California. She spend many weekends at her beloved cabin, the las trip one week before her death. Marie volunteered for many years at the Minnesota Women's Building where her daughter is employed. Marie was a life-long member of the Fraternal Life association and a sixty-two year member of St. Helena's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Sunday, September 28 with a celebration of Marie's life at 7:30 pm at Bradshaw, 3131 Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis: 612-721-3621. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Helena's Catholic Church, 32nd Avenue and 43rd Street in Minneapolis at 10:00 am on Monday, September 29th, with visitation from 9-10 am. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, 4403 Chicago Avenue.
