Marilyn Rae Scruton

Marilyn Rae (Dunaway) Scruton, of Houlton WI passed away on June 26, 2023 at the age of 76. She will be fondly remembered as a strong willed, hardworking, independent thinker who instilled those values in her children. She believed in equality for all and was unafraid to share her views with those around her. She had a kind soul and always reached out to help others. She was an avid gardener, a fierce reader, lover of the arts, a family genealogist, and a huge supporter of her grandchildren’s activities.

Marilyn had a long 40+ year career at the Minnesota Department of Health, retiring as Facilities
Manager after having coordinated a huge move, in addition to all the other responsibilities she handled
daily. Because her job required her to connect with many areas of the department, she developed many
great friendships among her co-workers. Although, she would agree that her greatest accomplishment
was completing her Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College St. Paul before her daughter, while working full-time.

She leaves behind her husband (Bill) of 55 years, children Chris (Christina), Meredith (Keith),
grandchildren Alex, Rory, and Celia, and her beloved sheepadoodle Oreo. She will be greatly missed by her siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Celebration of Life service will be held at Bradshaw Funeral Home, Saturday, September 30, 2023, 11:30 A.M. with visitation beginning at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that charitable donations be made in her name to the following hospice care teams who provided such great care during her final days.
