A Memorial service for Marion Carlson Hansen, age 86, of Stillwater, will be held on Saturday, 10:00 A.M. at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 6201 Osgood Avenue North, Stillwater. There will be a private interment at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Marion passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at her home. She was born February 11, 1918 in Clarkfield, MN to Martin and Anna Jurgenson, the first of five children. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Nursing School in 1939, married Dr. Russel E. Carlson in 1941 and moved to Stillwater. Marion was active in church community and medical organizations. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, she served as elder and in numerous other capacities. Marion volunteered at the prison, greeting visitors, helped found Family Service of St. Croix (now Family Means) was on it?s first board of directors, and took part in local political activities.

Marion was a long time member of Friday Study Club. Finding a need for prenatal information, she co-founded the Expectant Parent Education Program at Lakeview Hospital and served as an instructor for many years. Marion was a life member of the Lakeview Hospital Auxilliary.

Preceded in death by 1st husband, Dr. Russel E. Carlson in 1968. She will be sadly missed by husband, Donald whom she married in 1975; children, Cathy Bonneville of Champlin, Russel E. Carlson (Diane) of Plymouth, Susan Stenseng (Winslow) of Harlingen, TX, Christine Windmiller (Ned) of Stillwater, Paula Dickinson (Paul) of Stillwater, Lisa Carlson of Stillwater; step-children, Eric Hansen (Janet) of Woodbury, Robyn Lindberg (Will) of Maplewood; 12 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandson; brother, Harris Jurgenson (Dorothy) of Dallas, OR; sisters, Kathryn Engelstad of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Marlene Sandvig of Minneapolis; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, Family Means, or Lakeview Hospice.
