Marjorie passed away in peace on Sunday morning February 22, with her family near, after a yearlong struggle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Harold Gillespie of Bound Brook, New Jersey; and brother, Dennis Gillespie. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Angus McLeod Mairs; children, Susan, Angus Jr., and Sara (Daniel Steinhacker); and grandchild Samuel Leo Steinhacker. Marjorie is also survived by her childrens? families; sisters- and brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews, and their children; and many dear friends and colleagues. Marjorie graduated from Kent Place School, New Jersey, and Smith College, Massachusetts, and spent most her life educating and caring for children as an elementary school teacher and administrator. She retired in 2002 after 28 years at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, most recently serving as the Lower School Admissions Director. Memorials preferred to the ?Marge Mairs Scholarship? at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, or to House of Hope Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service 3 PM Monday, March 1, 2004 at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Avenue.
