Passed away peacefully December 15, 2021, with his wife at his side. Preceded in death by parents, Wallace and Carol; and brothers-in-law, Don DeRosier and Duke Drury.
He will be sadly missed by wife, Roxi; sons, Samuel and Wyatt; siblings, Karen (Gary) Breault, Nancy DeRosier, Roger (Sue), Richard (Kay), Jerry (Naomi), Renee (Wayne) Rivard, Margie Belisle, Janet (Steve) Foster, Colleen (Keith) Mogren, Tom (Kim), Mary (Tim) Johnson, Kathy (Tom Fahey) Belisle, Jenny Thoreson, and Chris (Shelley); father-in law and mother-in-law, Harold and Pam Carufel; sister-in-law, Missy (Kannin) Murphy; brother-in-law, Jon (Jenny) Carufel; many nieces, nephews, other family and lots of friends.
Mark Edward Belisle was born on August 21, 1968. He grew up in Somerset, number 13 of Wallace and Carol Belisle’s 15 children. He attended St. Anne Catholic School through 6th grade, then Somerset Jr. High, and graduated from Somerset High School in 1986. His childhood on the farm was filled with fun and adventures including building forts (and cakes!), bb gun “fights”, building roads and towns in the sandbox, and fixing up a dirt bike or snowmobile to run until the next breakdown. Mark moved from Tonka toys in the sandbox to dump trucks in the gravel pit in his teenage years.
Mark started working for Belisle Excavating as a teenager and worked there until 2015 as a mechanic. In 2015 and until his death, he was employed at the St. Croix County Highway first as a mechanic, and then as Shop Foreman. He was a self-taught mechanic who could fix absolutely anything and if he didn’t know how to fix it, he would google it, watch YOUTUBE videos or look through books to figure out how to fix it. Samuel and Wyatt truly believed he could fix anything even things that really couldn’t be fixed. Anytime they had a toy that broke, even if it was plastic, they would say “that’s okay, Dad can fix it.”
Mark had a wonderful group of loyal friends he enjoyed spending time with. His awesome sarcastic wit, humor, and one-liners brought smiles and laughter on many occasions. He was well known for playing a good practical joke or on occasion showing up somewhere in a gorilla suit. He passed his good humor and love for practical jokes and occasional costumes onto his son Wyatt. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He was truly a selfless man. As his friends and family know, Mark’s piece of advice to one and all was: “There are 2 things you never want to run out of – ketchup and toilet paper.” He loved his ketchup, but it had to be Heinz.
Mark was a die-hard Green Bay Packer Fan and passed that love for the Packers on to his son Samuel. He loved going to Green Bay to watch games and attended many, many over the years. He was also known for having weekly Packer parties in the garage to watch the game.
The one thing Mark wanted most in life he was able to realize and thoroughly enjoy: being a husband and father. Mark and Roxi were married on July 3rd, 2010. They welcomed their first son Samuel on August 18, 2011 and their second son Wyatt on 2/17/2014. He loved Roxi, Sam, and Wyatt more than anything. He loved being a father. He enjoyed taking the boys on gator rides, building and launching rockets and teaching them how to fix things. His boys learned so much from him in the time they had together. The lessons he taught, the father he was, is the gift he gave that will live on in them for the rest of their lives.
Mark was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and an all-around amazing man. He is dearly missed by Roxi, Sam, Wyatt, his siblings, extended family, and so very many good friends. He has left a big void in our hearts that can never be filled. Our hearts go out to all of you who, like us, will feel his absence but will carry his memory close in your hearts.
