Marlene Schroepfer

January 14, 1931 — August 8, 2020

Maplewood

Marlene passed away with her loving daughters by her side on August 8, 2020.

She will be deeply missed by daughters, Robin (David) Abraham and Cherie (Ron) Dunham; grandchildren, Carl Abraham, Jeff (Emily) Dunham, Tim Dunham, and Emily (Blake) Jedneak; granddaughter- In-Law, Jamie Dunham; great grandchildren, Marcus and McKenzie Dunham, and Aziya Jedneak; several nieces and nephews, and dear friends, especially Betty Hasse.

Marlene is preceded in death by husband, Ralph; infant grandchildren, Corinne and John Abraham; brother and sister-in-law, Don (Harriet) Schroepfer; sisters, Elaine (George) Henderson and Jeanne (Earl) Jensen.

Marlene was a loving wife to Ralph for 63 years. They lived in the home Ralph built in Maplewood for nearly 40 years. They both used their creativity and know how to make beautiful improvements to it over the years. She was a devoted Mom. She often greeted us home from school with homemade chocolate chip cookies. She was generous with her time volunteering as a Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, and other activities we were involved in.

Marlene worked as a bookkeeper for many years, first with Perry A. Swenson Company, and then for St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed life and especially liked having somewhere to go and people to see. She had fondness for nice clothing and matching shoes, with a flair for accessorizing with jewelry or scarves. One would never see Marlene without her being well put-together.

Marlene had a gracious spirit, a willingness to always go the extra mile, and a beautiful presence that could transform any room she walked into. She possessed an inner strength that allowed her to face adversity head on, and a compassionate heart offering empathy, love and forgiveness. Family meant the world to her, as she loved us unconditionally. She has left a vacant place in the lives of all those who loved her that cannot be filled; but she has set a wonderful example for us to follow.

Special Thanks to Hospice of the Midwest and the staff of Maple Hill Senior Living for their loving care of Marlene.
