Marlys J. Burris, age 90 of Vadnais Heights, MN, formerly of Omaha, NE. Marlys was born on the family farm in Sinnott Township near Stephen, Minnesota on October 7, 1934 and passed away on April 2, 2025.
Marlys moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota for high school. After graduating from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, Marlys married Darrold Burris on July 10, 1954. Marlys took great care of her children and, when they could fend for themselves, worked as an executive secretary for Northwestern Bell. Marlys loved Christmas, baking, cooking rich dinners and traveling to Arizona. Marlys was very smart, loved online shopping, had the cleanest house in the neighborhood, deeply loved her family -- kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren, and was one tough cookie.
Marlys is preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Anna (Gavelin) Johnson; husband, Darrold; sister, Margie; brother, Ron; and brother-in-law, Dean Johnson. Marlys is survived by her children, Scott (Jean), Cheri (Brad) Keester, and Dan; grandchildren, Alexandra (Kevin) Quinn, Emily (John) Burris-Ellenbecker, Colin and Joe Burris, Eric (Amanda), Adam (Mishy), Luke and Anna Keester; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Henry and Connell Quinn, Jack, Seamus and Albert Ellenbecker and Willow and Theo Keester.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 2nd 2025 at Community of Grace Lutheran Church, 4000 Linden St, White Bear Lake, with visitation beginning one hour prior, followed by a luncheon at the church.
