Born in Peru, WI. Preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Mabel; brother, Bjarne; sisters, Helen Williams Stoltenberg and Luella Foster. Survived by spouse of 60 years, June; sons, Brad, Bill (Cindy Mooney); daughter, Sara Mergens (Greg); and granddaughter, Mara Mergens. A proud Norwegian, graduate of Luther College and UW Madison Law School. Following graduation he served in the Navy in WWII in Iceland. He worked at Lawrence University, VP of Business Affairs, was an avid Packers fan and Ice Bowl attendee. He retired to his cabin, Skogstue, where he enjoyed woodworking, cross country skiing (Birkebeiner finisher) and working his Fylkemerker business of Norwegian heraldry. He also volunteered at Vesterheim Museum, the national Norwegian American Museum in Decorah, Iowa, as a board member and interim Director, receiving the "Den HA�yeste Are" award, their highest honor, for his dedication to Norwegian Americans. In Appleton, WI, he successfully led a campaign to fix Highway 10, helped establish Associated Bank of Green Bay. At Lawrence, he worked with the foreign studies program and was instrumental in the school acquiring Bjorklunden, a summer learning center. A member of the Nature Conservatory, he sold his Skogstue property to the DNR with proceeds benefiting the Nature Conservancy and Trinity Lutheran Churches in Appleton and Waupaca. Marwin loved to travel seeing all parts of the world, Norway being his favorite. A funeral will be held on July 19 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca, WI, and visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Nature Conservancy.
