On Saturday, December 14, 2019, Mary Lou Bolton, fierce mother and beloved grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin, friend and the undisputed Queen of Fun, went to heaven to be with her Lord. She was 90 years old.
Born to Donald and Mary Tucker on March 7, 1929, Mary Lou grew up in Minneapolis, where she spent most of her long and happy life. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1947, she joined the Marines and served as a drill instructor during the Korean war. Upon completing her service, she returned to Minneapolis, married briefly and eventually raised her two sons as a single mother. She later remarried and enjoyed 18 years with her beloved second husband, Ivan Bolton.
Mary Lou was known far and wide as the life of any party—a woman whose irresistibly kind and loving smile and her passion for pink, sparkly things drew in anyone whose path she crossed. With deep compassion for others, she devoted much of her time in later life to serving the needs of her church family through her beloved Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Mary Lou is survived by sons Kevin (Jenney Egertson) and Cleve (Denise) Volk; sister Bonnie (Bill) Boutelle; brother Cleve (Bette) Tucker; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by husband Ivan Bolton, parents Donald and Mary Tucker, sister Patti Ann Tucker Gaedy, and brother Donald Jr. (June) Tucker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Monday, December 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home, 3131 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis, with a Visitation beginning at 10 AM and luncheon to follow. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
