Mary Louise DeMarchi Murphy passed away peacefully on December 7, 2013 at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights.
Mary was born in Minneapolis on May 29, 1925, the daughter of Arturo and Giannina DeMarchi. She would marry Thomas E. Murphy Sr. in 1957. It was a union that would last 43 years, until Thomas passed in 2000. She is survived by her sister, Nida Pellizzer, her children Thomas Jr. (Louise), Mickey (Fred Neher), Teresa (Blake Learned) and Patrick (Gayle Ravenscroft), and nine grandchildren. Mary was preceded by her first husband, Don Johnson.
Mary was a graduate of Minneapolis Roosevelt High School and worked for several years at Powers/Donaldsons/Herbergers in St. Louis Park, the city where she resided for nearly 55 years. Mary was a loving mother, wife, sister, and aunt and especially adored her grandchildren, showering them with love at each encounter. She was an avid skater and sports fan. Mary enjoyed all animals and fed the birds and ducks in her yard throughout the year. She was most fond of her cat, Pearl.
Mary's life will be celebrated with a mass at 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 20 at St. Jude of the Lake (700 Mahtomedi Ave., Mahtomedi, MN). Visitation 4:00-7:00pm, Thursday, Dec. 19 at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center (2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater) as well as one hour prior to the church service (10:30-11:30 a.m.). Internment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to the Hennepin County Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow Lane North, Golden Valley, MN 55422.
