On March 25, the world lost a beautiful soul to the power of addiction. Megan participated in saving others but could not save herself. She was beautiful inside and out and freely shared the wisdom that belied her years. She was a voracious reader and modeled the art of active listening.
Preceded in death by grandmother, Evelyn M. Hardy; grandfather, Harold Burkard; aunt, Diane Saffert; and cousin, Danette Crawford.
She will be deeply missed by parents, Terri (Brian) Akason and Daniel Burkard (Jennifer Lacey); brothers, Brett and Joseph Burkard; sisters, Erin Burkard, Kelly and Jenna Akason; grandparents, Jean Burkard, M.C. and Evelyn Hardy, Carol and Jim Akason; aunts and uncles, Vicki (Gary) Eckes, Barb (Jim) Hardy Albee, Lisa Hartwig, Tom Burkard, Paul Saffert, Steve and Brad Akason; nieces, Jocelyn and Jayda; and several cousins.
A celebration of Megan's life will be Thursday, March 30, 2017, 5:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater. Luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a special cause of Megan's c/o Barb Hardy, Davis Brown Law, 215 - 10th Street, Des Moines, IA 50309.
