Age 59, died October 22, 2023 in Stillwater MN, with his wife and two dogs by his side, after a very courageous journey with a rare and aggressive type of leukemia.
Mike (Bones) was well-known as the “Straw Boss” Cooling and Heating Specialist for Hoffman Cooling and Heating, an expert that numerous people reached out to. Customers had extremely high regard for him, he was a favorite and requested often throughout the St. Croix Valley.
Mike also worked previously at People’s Heating and Cooling, Schwantes Heating and Cooling, Inc., Springborn Heating and Air Conditioning, and Stillwater Area Public Schools.
Born in Stillwater, MN, he was the son of Judy and Raymond Loida Sr. and a graduate of Stillwater Area High School.
Mike also possessed a special talent for tinkering and fixing things, a gift he “inherited” from his father. His talents served him well during a career he dearly loved. Hoffman’s was his home away from home and one of the joys in his life.
Mike enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, his many pets, gardening, music and feeding corn to the squirrels. He lived his life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face, despite his long and challenging journey with cancer. He was the ultimate warrior, never complaining and was an inspiration to many.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Vene-Loida of Bayport; brother, Raymond (Carmen) of Stillwater; nephew, Jason (Lauren) Loida of Stillwater; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cathy (“Ma Vene”) and Joe Vene of Bemidji; sister-in-laws Margaret Vene of Detroit Lakes and Melissa Bartlett (Andy) of Bemidji; nieces and nephews, Ryan Vene, Angela Lindquist, Matthew Vene, Helen Bartlett, and Camille Bartlett; special friends, Brandon (Sandy) Chase of Park Rapids; Jake (Stephanie) Melstrom of St. Paul; Earl (Robin) Shim of Stillwater; Scot Hendricks (Jenel) of Stillwater; Kevin Overbeek of Bemidji; and many cousins and friends. Mike is also survived by his canine companions, Bruce and JoJo, as well as his cats Teddy and Betty.
Michael is preceded in death by parents Judy and Raymond Loida; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and beloved pets Max, Howie, Bubba, Chubs, Murdock, Duchess, Betsy, Brooks, and Shithead.
He will be greatly missed for his huge, kind, and generous heart as well as his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and many shenanigans.
