Michael Wayne Jendro was born on November 12, 1947, the
firstborn to Edwin and Violet (Johnson) Jendro, in Minneapolis,
MN. He attended St. Helena Catholic Grade School and
graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965. Soon thereafter,
Mike moved to Pikesville, Maryland and joined the Sacred Heart
Monastery of Trinitarian Friars. Eventually leaving the
brotherhood, he made his way to Michigan and worked there for
a time with underprivileged and at-risk youth. After several years
away, Mike settled down in his beloved hometown of
Minneapolis, MN.
Mike had many passions. He was a lifelong lover of sports, a
history enthusiast, and firm supporter of social justice. He
enjoyed spending days in the garden with his wife, biking the
chain of lakes with his daughter, and Sunday afternoon games
with friends. Mike had a special love for his church community,
where he participated in music ministry and lectored for over 30
years. In more recent years, Mike's greatest pride and joy was
his grandson, Joey.
Mike passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2024. He
was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by his
devoted wife of 39 years, Susan, daughter Becky, and beloved
grandson Joey. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Gram,
brother Mark (Nancy) Jendro, uncle Jim Jendro, and many
nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
