Michael Lyons

Michael Allan Lyons passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014, after living with cancer for six years. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Mary Alice; daughter Molly (Ryan Bahrke); sons Matthew (Lisa Naughton), Timothy, and Colin (Lisa); and four grandchildren, Ilse Bahrke, Leah and Owen Lyons, and Lucy Lyons. The oldest of Daniel and Helen Lyons's children, he is survived by two brothers, Tom and Tim, and five sisters, Colleen, Mary, Teresa, Patty, and Kathryn, and their families.

Born in Denver, Colorado, he had fond memories of his maternal grandparents' farm in Brush, Colorado, where he spent happy childhood times. He attended St. John's Preparatory School and St. John's University, where he met his wife Mary Alice, who attended the College of St. Benedict.

He received his JD from the University of South Dakota and practiced law in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1987, where he continued to practice law. He taught the
family to love the mountains and hiking in the desert. In 2000, he and Mary Alice moved to the Twin Cities, where he retired in 2010 after working as a research attorney.

He had a love for Irelanda�"the culture, the music, the language, and the food and drinka�"and was able to visit the country twice. He loved to spend time with his family, read, hike, sail, kayak, and had a lifelong passion for knowledge.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered by all family and friends.
