Devoted Mother, proud Grandmother and Great Grandmother, committed civic volunteer - all combine to describe Millie. St. Paul resident, former longtime resident of West Des Moines, Iowa. Born January 20, 1927, and peacefully died March 2, 2013 surrounded by her children. Survived by her loving children, Ann (Terry) Huntrods, Kathleen (Gene) Ramsay and Steve (Jane) Flanagan; grandchildren, Alecia Ramsay (Craig Sherwin), James Ramsay, John Ramsay, Kyle (Iman) Flanagan and Bill Flanagan; great grandchildren, Abbott, Isaac, Eli, Liam, Aisha and Jaffar. Preceded in death by mother, Ruth Kenney, father, Aaron Thurman Dennison, step-father, Norris Kenney and former husband, Robert W. Flanagan. Born in Knoxville, Iowa, graduated in 1944 from Knoxville High School, obtained a teaching certificate from Iowa Teacher's College, taught in a one room school house, full-time homemaker, employed at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Wesley Acres Retirement Community, and Rice Elementary School. Enjoyed gardening, reading, movies, music, travel, and most of all time with family and friends. The family thanks the doctors and staff of the Cardiology Clinic and 6C, U of MN Hospitals, the doctors and staff of Sholom East, and nurses and staff at Eagle Crest and 901 E. Como Blvd. Celebration of Life Service 11AM Saturday, April 13th at West Des Moines United Methodist Church, 8th and Grand, West Des Moines, Iowa. Memorials preferred to West Des Moines United Methodist Church, Friends of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, or HCI Hospice Care Services.
