Bergquist,
Muriel J. McMahon

Passed away peacefully on June 26, 2013 after a full and wonderful life. Born in Omaha, NE in 1919 to Lee Campbell and Mary Banfield McMahon, Muriel's early years were spent in Omaha and Sioux City, IO, before moving with her family to St. Paul, MN in 1936. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lloyd W. Bergquist, at Central High School. Married on June 12, 1942, at March Field Chapel in Riverside, CA, they celebrated 70+ wonderful years together in St. Paul and White Bear Lake surrounded by family and friends. Muriel's insatiable curiosity, interest in people and events, and love of learning served as a magnet attracting life-long friends of all ages. She was a writer, gardener, knitter, bridge player, and first mate to Lloyd on their beloved sailboat, Ol' Yeller. Most importantly, she was "Mom" to her loving children - Gay Parker, Brad Bergquist and Georgie Hilker (Marcus) - and "Grandmom", "Gonga", and "Gigi" to her 5 grandchildren - Tripp Parker, Bluanne (Rich) Hamilton, Dan (Danielle) Bergquist, Matthew (Laura) Hilker and Taylor (fiancAC.e Sam Starkman) Hilker - and four great-grandchildren - Hudson, Aubreyona, Cambria and Acaicia. Everyone who knew her loved her competitive spirit, keen political wit, warm sense of humor, welcoming home and legendary chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, parents, brother, Richard (Marge) McMahon and sister, Marylee (Robert) Bone. A special thank you to the Gables staff at Boutwell's Landing for their extraordinary care of Muriel and Lloyd during their stay. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church, St. Paul, MN. Private interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials to donor's choice.
