Nancy Jean Chinander, Wife of Theodore Malm and mother of Emily, Evan, Eva and Erik, died on Saturday, October 18, at United Hospital in St. Paul. She was 46 years old. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, with further study at the College of St. Scholastica and Bemidji State University. She was a 1980 graduate of St. Croix Falls High School. Nancy worked as a devoted teacher of special needs children at Academia Cesar Chavez in St. Paul. She was a faithful member of Ascension Episcopal Church, Stillwater, where she had been treasurer of the congregation and presently served on the church vestry; and she was active in community service groups as well. In addition to her husband and children, Nancy is survived by her mother, Marguerite Chinander, sisters Julie (Bruce) Bjork and Mary (Ron) Halverson, brother Ross (Nancy) Chinander, nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Chinander; brother, Scot Chinander and niece, Allison Bjork. A memorial service will be held at the EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION, 215 N. 3rd St., Stillwater on Thursday, October 23rd at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
