Nathaniel "Nate" Matteson

Age 44 of Lakeville passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 6, 2025. He is survived by his daughter, Ashlyn Matteson; parents, Laura and Jon Lundquist; siblings, Rachel (Matt) Sinnen, Kelsey Gjere, Carly (Zach) Hunter, Kirsten (Cody) Brostrom, Brandon Matteson, Trevor James “TJ” Matteson; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins.

Nate was a strong man who survived cancer and addiction. He enjoyed reading and his choices were deep, like Homer, Shakespeare, Salinger and Poe. But, he also enjoyed the mystical world of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

Nate had a deep passion for sports, particularly his Minnesota teams. He loved to talk stats, players and history. We’ll miss his quick wit, encyclopedic sports knowledge, and the joy he took in sharing it with us.

The only thing Nate loved more than sports was family. His daughter, Ashlyn, was the light of his life, and he cherished get togethers with his large family. He also loved his companion cat, aptly named, Trouble. Anyone who knew Nate will tell you he was kind, sincere and the best friend a person could have. His absence will be felt more than he probably would have guessed. We grieve, but find comfort in the fact that Nate completed his purpose on earth and has been called home.

A celebration of Nate’s life will be from 4pm – 7pm Wednesday, March 19 at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite sports team attire (no Packers, please, LOL)! Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society or Be the Match.
