Norma Lee Anderson was born June 29, 1934 in Churdan Iowa to Henry Adolph and Lottie Belle Dagit. She was the youngest of 4 children (3 brothers). Norma was raised on the family farm south of Churdan.
She attended a one room school 2 miles from her home. Occasionally she rode her pony (Star) to school. When walking she took a shortcut through a neighbors sheep pasture. The danger of that route was a ram, who would at times chase her.
Norma went on to graduate from Churdan high school in 1952. She then enrolled in Northwestern College in Minneapolis. She transferred to Macalester College in St. Paul to obtain a teaching degree, graduating in 1956.
She taught at Aitkin High School 1956-1958. Then taught at Roseville Schools 1958-1961. She was a substitute teacher in North St. Paul for several years. Later she enjoyed a successful career selling real estate.
Norma married her sweetheart, Mauritz (Mo) Anderson June 7, 1958. They have lived in St. Paul, Maplewood, North Hudson, Wisconsin and finally Oak Park Heights, Minnesota. They recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Norma loved Jesus, her family and her church and that came through in everything she did and who she was. She was a senior high youth leader, Sunday School teacher, church librarian and helped plant a church. She wanted those around her to know God's love and was involved with a number of interfaith neighborhood Bible Studies. Since 1961 she was part of the Evangelical Free Church and most recently a member of First Evangelical Free Church of Maplewood.
Norma went to be with Jesus on August 9th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and 3 brothers. She is greatly missed by her husband, Mo Anderson, son Ted Anderson (Jae), daughter, Amy Brown, daughter, Lisa Fernihough (John), 6 grandchildren - Lottie Anderson, Rachael McHargue (Corin), Sten Anderson, Paul Brown, Lillie Chisholm (Justin) and Noah Fernihough and 1 great grandchild - Isla Chisholm.
