Dodge, Olivia Irvine October 7, 1918 January 24, 2009 In her 90th year of living life to its fullest, one can only say, "Wow, what a journey!" In her room at home, filled with nothing but love, Mom left this world a much better place in more ways than one could imagine. Love, contribution, generosity and compassion were the corner-stones by which she lived each day. Her life's passion centered on teaching and engender-ing in our young, a love and reverence for nature, with the goal of ultimately creating good stewards of the land and protectors of our natural resources. This commitment led to founding the Thomas Irvine Dodge Nature Center in West St. Paul, and the Irvine Nature Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Being an extraordinary humanitarian and philanthropist, her passion for life led her heart to fund a multitude of organizations devoted to protecting and bettering the lives of animals and people. Her loyal and dedicated staff were there for her in every way possible right to the end. Her natural ability to establish deep and meaningful relationships with anyone she met, from any walk of life was amazing. Her relationships worldwide were mind-boggling and her lifelong friends and extended family were a source of great joy. Boy, could she throw a party! The great stories from her expansive knowledge of history, literature and philosophy were enjoyed daily because of her razor sharp memory. Her son Tom and his wife Kim and their three children, Matthew, Nicholas and Olivia were the recipients of an endless amount of love. We miss her so much more than words could ever say. She was intertwined with every aspect of our lives and never missed an event, game or recital in 21 years. We love you Mom & Grandma... . Our hearts are overflowing with your love but desparately aching without you. Thank you for making our lives complete. xoxox A private burial is planned.
