Onno VanDemmeltraadt

89 years young 

June 19, 1935 – July 15, 2024

We poured the last glass of wine on July 15 before the darkness settled in and he went to be with his family and friends as God called him home.

He spent 36+ years living his American dream working at 3M, but work was not his passion; God, family, friends, and tennis (not to mention beer and wine) were definitely the joys in his life. He had a way of making people around him feel special and he was the best storyteller imaginable, in any language. His sense of humor was quick and abundant until the end. 

Born in Indonesia, he traveled to the Netherlands for his college education. There he was blessed to meet the talented and spirited Marjanne, got married, and together they made their way to Minnesota to start their family and live the American dream. 

After her passing, Onno was again blessed to find his second wife, Gloria. They loved to take adventurous cruises all over the world until her recent passing. We smile when we think of the reunion of all his family and friends on the big tennis court in the sky. 

Preceded in death by Marjanne, and Gloria; survived by children; Mark (Sharon) and Jen (Perry); granddaughters; Breana, Katie, Madison, Josie, Isabella, and great-grandson Bowen; Brother Huib (Judy); stepchildren, Greg (Lori) Cannon, Renee Cannon (Charles Edmond), Paul (Fabia) Cannon, Mark (Susan) Cannon, Karen Ellefson, Lee (Sara) Cannon, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service Friday, July 26, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, 11194 – 36th Street North, Lake Elmo with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
