Bonestroo
Otto Gerald
Born June 17, 1925 in Sioux Center, IA to Nellie and Andrew Bonestroo.
He enlisted and served as an officer in the Army Air Force during WWII as a bombardier/navigator/landing pilot.
Otto attended Syracuse University and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with BS and MS degrees in engineering. Otto was proud of his Governors appointment to Metropolitan Council. He dedicated himself to his life's work as a professional engineer. Otto built a large and successful consulting engineering firm which contributed to the growth and development of cities and governmental entities in and around the Twin Cities and upper Midwest. He strongly supported education with scholarships to Stillwater and Kerkhoven High Schools and also to the University of Minnesota by providing ongoing scholarships and a Civil Engineering computer lab room.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Marion, Thomas and Kenneth. Survived by wife, Christina Templeton Bonestroo; children: Susan, David (Elizabeth) and Anne Bonestroo; stepchildren, Angus and James Templeton; grandchildren, Justin (Kristine), Benjamin Bonestroo and Nathan Dols; great grandchildren, Amelia, Henrik and Evelyn.
Passed away peacefully July 11, 2016 at home in Lakeland Shores, MN. Memorial service Monday, July 18 at 3:00PM with visitation beginning at 2:00PM at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 6201 Osgood Avenue N., Stillwater.
The family greatly appreciated the loving care provided by Visiting Angels / Matrix and the Cedergrens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
