Patricia Mcdonald

d. March 26, 2018

Please join us as we celebrate Patricia Kathleen Condon Johnston McDonald's life on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St. John The Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 N Kent Street, Saint Paul, MN, 55102, at 11:00 AM. The service will be followed by a light lunch.

Our mother was our inspiration, with her grace, beauty, creativity, and intelligence. She had a flair for celebration and a joy that she brought to everything she did. She supported our dreams and aspirations. She also supported the dreams of our artist father, while cultivating her budding writing career as a freelance magazine writer.

It wasn't until we started to fly the nest did she begin to focus on the woman many of you came to know. She earned a four year college degree in less than nine months and was honored as one of the top forty graduates in the first forty years of Metro State University. She received an honorary doctorate from Concordia University.

Patricia founded Johnston Publishing which led to co-founding the Afton Historical Society Press in 1993 with Duncan McMillan. "Exceptional Books for the Discriminating Reader" is the motto of the Press, which garnered countless award-winning books that have touched thousands to this day.

She leaves a legacy. More importantly, she leaves countless people who love her and have been inspired by her to follow their own dreams and fulfilling their destinies.

Missed by her large and loving family: her husband Malcolm Willis McDonald; children and grandchildren, Patricia Kathleen Johnston (Kevin M Matthews), grandsons Damon Wolfgang Gnojek and Dylan Wyeth Gnojek, Chuck Johnston (Kelly), grandsons Sam and Ethan, Mary Susan Johnston Oleson (David), grandson Jonathan Neumann, son of Jane Ellen Johnston Neumann, daughter gone before her. Her siblings Thomas John Condon, Donald John Condon (Lee), Mary Ellen Condon, O'Ann Condon Christiansen, (Patrick), gone before her, Colleen Condon Elias.

To celebrate her constant inspiration in others, donations can be made to the Afton Historical Society Press 501(c)(3) to carry on her work. PO Box 2556, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076
