Paul Reuben Saumer, a beloved partner, father, son, grandfather, brother, friend, hair stylist, died on November 9, 2024. Paul was born on January 7, 1946, in Isle, MN.
He will be deeply missed by those who survive him: his partner of 40 years, Brett Kruempel; son, Scott (Kerri) Carlson and his mother, Susan Miller-Faris; grandchildren, Joshua and Camryn; siblings, Allan (Patricia) Carlson, Robert (Kathryn) Carlson; many nieces and nephews.
As we sit to write about this remarkable man, we are acutely aware that we'll never be able to encapsulate the complete wonder that was Paul in just a few sentences.
Paul was well-connected in the arts community, and was involved in theater and film, showcasing his talents as both an actor and a vocalist. With an extensive and eclectic circle of friends, he touched the lives of many with his unconventional yet compassionate nature. His role as a devoted partner, father, and grandfather was a testament to his unique and authentic approach to life.
Paul was a passionate individual who wore his heart on his sleeve, never hesitating to share his profound emotions with those around him. A natural storyteller, he captivated listeners with his tales and was a cherished friend and confidant to many. His competitive spirit and love for the Vikings might have been a surprise to some, but were just another layer of his wonderful character. Paul loved being up-north at his cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. He truly felt at peace in and around the lake.
An informal gathering to celebrate Paul, the love we had for him and to share the wonderful memories will take place at Bradshaw Funeral & Cremation's Minnehaha location at 3131 Minnehaha Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55406 on Saturday November 23rd from Noon-4pm.
While we grieve the loss of a one-of-a-kind individual, we take solace in the memories we shared with Paul and the impact he made on all of us. Rest in peace, Paul, knowing you will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
