Paul L. Stone (1969-2024): A Life Celebrated
Paul Stone, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend to all, unexpectedly passed away August 3, 2024 at the age of 54.
Born on October 5, 1969 in Minnesota, Paul grew up in Andover and attended Anoka High School. His childhood was filled with friends, music and family road trips.
Professionally, he spent the bulk of his career in the medical device industry, focused on IT, HR, and in Quality Assurance. He led teams at Cray Research, Guidant, Boston Scientific, Medtronic and most recently Patterson Companies. Yet, Paul’s greatest joy was his family and his friends.
Paul married the love of his life, Lisa Martin, and they were a great compliment to one another, with shared values and dreams. They were married nearly 23 years, settled in Stillwater, MN and raised their amazing children Ian, Griffin and Kira. His highest priority was always family and he had immense pride in supporting their individual passions and teaching them life skills. Paul was either an engaged dad on the sidelines or helping to coach a team.
Paul had the gift of being a connector who had a zest for life and enthusiastically said yes to everything: travelling, fishing, volleyball, brewing beer, remodeling, cooking his famous breakfast burritos, good coffee, live music, cabin time and being a tubing captain. He got great joy from hosting people at the house, on the river or most recently at the cabin that he loved and spent hours remodeling. He was always quick to share his gifts with others, yet also wasn’t afraid to ask for help when needed. Paul was incredibly handy, loved his recliner, and he was off to the races with the honey-do list. He was a foodie and savored cooking for others as well as a wonderful meal out. He valued weekly breakfasts with his parents and nightly walks to decompress with Lisa and his furry friend Archie.
Paul has imprinted a lasting legacy of joy, authenticity, humility and sincerity. He instilled curiosity and a spirit of adventure in all of us. His infectious laugh, tender heart, deep dimples, kind smile and an easy does it attitude were what drew people to him. To know Paul was to love Paul and his absence will be deeply felt by those who held him dear.
Paul is preceded in death by Glenn Martin, Dan Stone, Grandpa & Grandma Klamman, and Aunt Judy Olmstead. He will be so incredibly missed by wife, Lisa; children, Ian, Griffin and Kira; parents, Pat and Guy Reuss; mother-in-law, Nancy Martin; sister, Erica (Eric) Scott; nephew, Easton; niece, Elle; brother-in-law, Eric Martin; and his four-legged companion, Archie.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be Saturday, August 10, 2024, 12:00 P.M. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Avenue, Mahtomedi, with an informal gathering from 1 to 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lisa Stone. These funds will help Lisa and the kids continue to create meaningful experiences with Paul’s love present.
