Paula Dosland

Paula Dosland, age 57, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2015 surrounded by her family and her dog, Elsa. Devoted wife and best friend for over 30 years to her husband, Tom, and loving mother to Britta, Hans and his fiancAC.e, Lauren Meintsma. Taught us all how to "live" with brain cancer with faith, humor, dignity, and grace. Spread love, smiles and friendship wherever she went. Loved her vacations with family at Lake Vermilion and anywhere there was sun or water. Her most important accomplishment was being a proud mother to her children, raising them to be loving, strong and independent. Graduated from College of St. Teresa and worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years in the Emergency Department at St. Paul Children's Hospital. Gave her children her love of music, theater and travel. Never missed any of her kids' school or sporting events. She will be forever remembered for her smile, the twinkle in her eye and her love of peanut M&M's. Preceded in death by her father Leonard Vertnik and brother-in-law Peter Huber. Also survived by her mother Germaine Vertnik; sister Jeanne (Chris) Wilkowski and their children Sarianna, Nathan, Zachary, Nicholas and Luke; brother Stephen (Debbie) Vertnik and their son Joe; sister Lisa (Craig) Schadow and their daughters Samantha (Brett) Johnson and Ali (Jack Brandes); sister Mary (Tom) Harding and their son Elliott; sister-in-law Cathy Huber and her children Andrew(Mary) Huber and Bailey Huber (Ryan Milz) and sister-in-law Beth (John) Mullan and their son John, as well as many other family members and dear friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Michelle Burright, Dr. Jane Moore, Dr. Michael McCue, Sharon Eriksen, Dr. John Trusheim, Patti Bruns, Dr. Ghazi Qadri, Dr. Valeed Shaik, everyone involved with her care at Neurosurgical Associates, Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Brain Tumor Center, and Allina Home Hospice (Ann & Teresa) for the outstanding, compassionate care she received during her illness. Special thanks to Pastors Mike Carlson and Brian Norsman and all at St. Andrew's for their support and guidance. Memorial service will be 12:00 noon on Monday, January 4 at ST. ANDREW'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi, with visitation 3-7pm on Sunday, January 3 at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater and one hour prior to service at church.
