She was born at the family farm home near Fairmont, MN, the sixth child and fifth daughter of Robert H. and Flora (nee Sloneker) Unke. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Mankato State Teachers' College in about 1935. She and her husband lived for many years in the Bayport area as elementary school teachers and administrators. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Fisher. She is survived by her sister, Florence, 99, of Fairmont, and 15 nieces and nephews.
