Age 88, of St Paul Passed away June 24, 2010 Peg was born July 30, 1921 in LaGrange, IL to David and May Ford. She is preceded in death by son Thomas, brother William and sister Edith. Survived by children Margaret (Mike) Powers, Doug (Jill) Nickels, Susan (Bill Eldelstein) Nickels, and Glenn (Tricia) Nickels; 8 grandchildren Jessica (Keith) Faulken, Colin, Martin, Ford, Mackenzie, Amelia, Sam, Jackie; 1 great-grandchild Molly Margaret Faulken; and many loving friends. Peg served in the Marines during WWII then graduated from Iowa State University and later earned a Masters from Western Michigan. She raised her family in Ossineke and Alpena, MI where she was an innovative schoolteacher and engaged in many community volunteer activities. She moved to St. Paul in 1992 and became an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, was a dedicated volunteer at church and her grandchildren's schools, the St. Paul Garden Club and Como Conservatory. She most recently resided at Rosewood Estates in St. Paul with her beloved dog Kalli. A memorial service will be held Monday June 28 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Avenue So., St. Paul with visitation starting at 1:00 and service at 2:00, reception immediately following.
