Phillip Rood

November 28, 1938 — October 3, 2024

ROOD, Phillip

Phillip Rood of Stillwater, MN changed his address to Heaven on October 3, 2024 at the age of 85. He spent his finals days at home with family including his cat, Harley. Phil was born and raised in Minneapolis, but spent time on a cousin's farm in Ladysmith, WI. For a city kid, he really took to the farm and a piece of it always stayed with him. Phil joined the Navy after high school and went on to meet his wife, Dorothy, while stationed at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Phil joked he was one of the few enlisted who never served aboard ship as he trained as a mechanic for the Blue Angels. After the Navy, Phil and Dorothy worked hard to put him through college. Somehow, his degree in social work translated to a position as a Purchasing Agent for Gillette where he spent the majority of his career. Phil took up guitar in his forties and played for the kids at Sunday School as well as his own. He also enjoyed long motorcycle trips across the country with his daughter and also with a group of semi-retired business men that called themselves the Grey Angels. After retirement, Phil and Dorothy enjoyed traveling the globe with friends. Their favorite trips included Singapore and England. When Dorothy's inclusion body myositis kept her homebound, Phil did whatever it took to keep her at home. Together they came up with creative solutions that helped get them get through each day.

Phil was kind-hearted, detail-oriented, a dedicated caregiver, a responsible family man and above all, he was resilient.

Phil's love lives on through his children, Jennifer (Shelly) Rood, Jason (Brooke) Rood; granddaughter, Rhianna; brother, Richard "Pete" (Alice) Rood.

Phil is reunited in heaven with his wife, Dorothy; parents, Osbern and Lillian; brother, John.
