Ramona Julieanne White (Ahlquist), born in Minneapolis on November 22, 1953, died in St. Paul at Our Lady of Peace Home on. She was 70 years old. After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2022, she fought a long, hard battle, but eventually, Mona succumbed to leptomeningeal cancer that metastasized to her spinal fluid.
She was known fondly by many different nicknames; Mona, Mighty Mo, Ramoan, Mo, Mamoan.
Mona is survived by her husband, John of 50 years; her daughter, Katie (Brian) Traxler; and her son, Matt. She is also survived by her two beautiful granddaughters, Emily (4) and Allison (1). Mona leaves behind seven sisters, Roberta, Robin, Raissa, Sandra, Stacey, Jeannie, Debbie; and one brother, Russell. She spent over 50 years cutting peoples' hair both in downtown Minneapolis and in her basement salon. She also worked for 20 years at the University of St. Thomas as a manager before retiring in 2021. From this time on, she began what she might consider her favorite job, looking after her granddaughters. She spent her entire life living in South Minneapolis and enjoyed travel, sewing, musicals, playing with her granddaughters, and talking with friends.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, August 22, 2024, 10:00 A.M. at St Helena Catholic Church, 3204 East 43rd Street, Minneapolis. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to St. Helena Catholic Church or Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
