Rebecca Klein of Saint Paul passed away at home on October 23, 2009, at the age of 53, after a nearly 10 year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by Bill Klein, her husband of more than 30 years, her daughters, Michaela and Caitlin, and her mother, Roberta Ready. She was predeceased by her father, Charles W. Ready, who passed away on February 5, 2009. Becky was raised in Hammond, Indiana, and later attended St. Olaf College, graduating in 1978, and William Mitchell College of Law, getting her degree in 1982. In addition to family and many close friends, music was an important part of Becky's life. She began playing the violin in third grade, and enjoyed playing until the early part of this decade, when complications from her cancer prevented her from continuing. Prior to that she played with the Hammond Area Youth Orchestra, the Northern Indiana Symphony Orchestra, the local pit orchestras for many Broadway touring shows, the St. Olaf College Orchestra (where she also sang in various student choral groups), and later the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra in the Twin Cities. After employment in other venues, she continued her connection to music, serving as the Manager of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, later in the development offices of the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and finally as Development Director of The Schubert Club, from which she recently resigned as her illness progressed. A memorial celebration of Becky's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Avenue South, Saint Paul, MN. Family visitation will be at the church at 12:30 pm, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Schubert Club, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation are preferred.
