Rev. Alan Rehwaldt, age 58, died on August 9th, 2011 after a battle with cancer. Memorial service celebrating the life of Alan Rehwaldt will be at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 880 Neal Ave. S., Afton, MN on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Friday, August 12th, 4-7 P.M. at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Erland Asmus and Rev. George Riemer will officiate.
Alan was born in Owatonna, MN on July 3, 1953 to Charles and Gloria (Grabow) Rehwaldt. He graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's Degree in Counseling. He received the Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1987.
His theological internship was at Trinity Lutheran, Palo Alto, CA. He served as a Pastor at Trinity Lutheran, Murdock, NE. He served as an Interim Pastor at South Shore Trinity Lutheran, White Bear Lake, MN, Spirit of Christ Lutheran, Ham Lake, MN, Beautiful Savior Lutheran, New Hope, MN, Zion Lutheran Church, Cologne, MN, Sonrise Lutheran, Avon, MN.
He served as Pastor at St. Peter Lutheran, Afton, MN for almost 15 years.
Alan was an avid canoeist, bicyclist and cross-country skier. He especially loved camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters.
During his last illness he was richly blessed by the support of many friends and relatives.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Gloria (Grabow) Rehwaldt, his brother, Dr. Warren (Katrina) Rehwaldt of Crescent City, CA and by two nephews, James and Justin Rehwaldt.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Cristine.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
