Died Sunday, December 20, 2009

Called home to be with our Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Preceded in death by wife, Betty (Weith); parents, Frank and Irene (Stubbe); sister, Louise Kunkel (Leonard); and two nephews, Mark Schuett and Keith Kunkel. He is survived by his four children, Timothy, Joseph, Rebecca (Harstad), and Elizabeth (Moldrem); four grandchildren, David & Tatianna Moldrem and Aaron & Rian Goebel; one sister, Verna (Charles) Schuett; nephews & nieces; and many friends.

Pastor Goebel was privileged to serve five parishes: Whittier, CA; Duluth, MN, Rhinelander and Jeffries, WI, and St. Paul, MN. For 20 years he served as Executive Director of the Second Harvest St. Paul Food Bank until his retirement. Dick was also honored to serve the people of his community, state, and nation, with a particular focus on the issue of hunger.

Visitation will be at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH (670 W. Wheelock Parkway, St. Paul) on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. A service of celebration will be held at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH (Jackson St. & Sycamore, St. Paul) on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M.; visitation one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for Bethel Lutheran Church, LINC-Twin Cities (670 W. Wheelock Parkway, St. Paul), Central Lutheran School (775 Lexington Pkwy N, St. Paul) and/or Second Harvest Food Bank (1140 Gervais Ave)
