Age 91 of Minneapolis, died on November 13, 2009. He was born on August 22, 1918, in New York City, the eighth child of Dr. Karl G.H. Kretzmann and his wife, Thekla. He received his Master of Divinity degree at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. He was Ordained into the Holy Ministry on his 25th birthday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Orange, NJ. He served as Pastor of Clifton Lutheran Church in Marblehead, MA for 21 years, and was Pastor of Christ Church Lutheran, Minneapolis, MN from 1964-1981. After retiring from the parish ministry he served as Director of Church Relations for Lutheran Social Service of MN for 13 years, during this time visiting over 700 Lutheran pastors and churches in the greater metro area. He also founded the METRO LUTHERAN newspaper. He was especially interested in inter-Lutheran and ecumenical affairs and served on committees of Lutheran-Catholic Dialog and Lutheran-Episcopal Dialog. He was preceded in death by parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Otto Paul, Adalbert Raphael, Edwin Martin John, Martin Luther, Justus Paul, Thekla Eisentrager and Anita Stumpf. He is survived by wife of 65 years, Jeannette; daughter, Kathleen Anne Dusek (David); sons, Timothy John Kretzmann (Jane), Andrew Paul Kretzmann (Jane); grandchildren, Angela Joy, Matthew William and Rachel Sarah. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2pm at CHRIST CHURCH LUTHERAN, 3244 34th Ave. So., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ Church Lutheran (Endowment Fund) or Metro Lutheran Newspaper, 122 W. Franklin Ave., #206, Minneapolis, MN 55404.
