Richard “Dick” Lee Block, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023, at the age of 84after a long illness with COPD. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Blanche Block; wife, Marge (nee Durand) Block; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Block; sisters, Mildred Block, Ann (Cliff) Diggins, and Marilyn (Dick) Lewis; and son, Mark Block. He is cherished and will be sadly missed by his siblings, Gloria (Sonny) Read, David (Pat) Block and Phillip (Bonnie) Block; his children, Terri (Steve) Stine, Tracy (Ian) Zaretsky, Becky (Scott) Kriegsman, and Rick (Diane) Block; his grandchildren, Aaron Block, Hannah Block, Shea (Mary Kate) Stine, Taylor Stine, Joe Zaretsky, Katia Zaretsky, Olivia Kriegsman, Kai Kriegsman, Kathryn Block, Sophia Block; and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Dick was born on July 19, 1939, in Lyle, MN and grew up on the family farm. He was a member of the 4-H Club and enjoyed showing his calves at the county and state fair. After graduating high school, Dick served in the United States Air Force for four years. Dick was known to be a very hard worker retiring from 3M in 1999 after many years of dedicated service. Dick’s kids' favorite memories with him are the summer camping trips at Cass lake, his big smile while cutting a rug with him on the dance floor, and cheering on the Vikings. Family was his most valued treasure. Dick loved to toast with a beer, margarita or stinger at his favorite time of day … 5:00 happy hour! He enjoyed spending his days outdoors while boating, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Dick could fix anything and found great pleasure spending time in his garage wood working. Many family members and friends were the lucky recipients of his infamous napkin holders, paper towel holders, stamp holders, games, and reindeer.

Dick’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service for Richard "Dick" Lee Block, Sr. will be held at Bradshaw Funeral Home (2800 Curve Crest Blvd.
Stillwater, MN 55082) on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00am. Visitation will start at 10:00am
with a luncheon following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Lung
Association (lung.org).
