Richard Michael "Dick" Butler

Age 87, died peacefully on his birthday, 15 Jan 2024. 

Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jo; and survived by sons, Richard Butler Jr (Kelley) Akron Ohio, Patrick Butler (Noelle) Minneapolis and Steven Butler (Allison) Eagan; daughters, Laurie Klinkhammer (John) Eau Claire, Wis., Aran Jackson (Minter) Blacksburg Va., Lynn Daleiden St. Paul, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Dick was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in the Madeira neighborhood. He graduated from Madeira High school, class of 1955. He received a scholarship to play golf at The Ohio State University and graduated in 1961. He met and married Nancy in 1959. 

Dick loved golf, playing competitively into his 70’s. He traveled all over the world playing golf while Nancy went sight-seeing (one of her joys). Dick was in sales most of his life and never missed an opportunity to meet new potential customers. He seemed to always know a guy who could do or provide whatever was currently needed. 

Dick was active at St Michael's Catholic Church in Stillwater until he decided that the winters were too much for him and he moved to Aiken, South Carolina in 2018. 

Dick loved to make things; he built wooden canoes, furniture for their home, he even assembled the Stillwater family log home. He will be missed. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL, 611 South 3^rd Street, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the Mass. A reception lunch follows mass. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the “St. Michael’s Church Building Fund."
