Richard "Dick" Odland

Age 82 of Stillwater went home to Jesus on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Odland; and his sister, Janet Riley.

He will forever be missed and never forgotten by his devoted wife of 60 years, Lynda; their son, Douglas (Mary); and two daughters, Ann (Tim), and Amy (Rick) as well as five grandchildren, James, Alicia, Emma, Lily, Aric (Alysa); and three great grandchildren, Drake, Levi and Henrik; many nieces, nephews; and sisters in law, Joan and Jean.

Dick graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1960. After high school he went on to Dunwoody Technical College. After college he served in the Air Force reserves. Dick was a talented and very hard working carpenter. As owner of Odland Construction, he built over 100 parks and playgrounds in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas! Working outside brought him great joy. Loving the outdoors, Dick hunted, fished and did a lot of golfing. He was an avid golfer and Stillwater Country Club was his happy place! He made four holes in one in his lifetime.

Being outside and staying active were important to him, even if it was mowing his lawn.

Dick was not only an amazing husband and father, he was a friend to everyone.

There is not anything he wouldn’t have done for another person or dog.

He battled Stage 4 Lung Cancer for just over 14 months. His courage, strength and deep love for our Lord were a testament to his character. His legacy will live forever in everyone he knew. We love you so much dad.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be Monday, May 12, 2025, 4:00 P.M. at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the service. Family will receive friends following the service. Private interment St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Hospice or St. Judd Children's Cancer Research.
