Age 76 of Vadnais Heights

Passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2024. Richard had a passion for gemology and was a longtime jeweler at Bockstruck Jewelers in St. Paul from 1971 - 1988. Later in life, Richard worked as a cashier at Walmart in Vadnais Heights for over a decade, retiring from there in 2014. Richard loved shells, fossils, science fiction, Harry Potter, vintage British sitcoms, board games with family, and most of all cats -especially his dear late companions, Sherbert and Puddin.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Roderic and Mildred Ellis; maternal grandparents, Richard and Sarah Puhlmann; brother-in-law, Sterling Ashby.

He was survived by his sister, Kathy Ashby; nephew, Craig (Jason Moore) Ashby; great nephew and niece kitties, Ripley and Mia.

Richard will be missed greatly and remembered for his mild manner, attention to details, and wonderful kindness.

Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, MN.
