Passed away peacefully in his home September 12, 2021.
Born February 14, 1931, Dick grew up in North St. Paul and was a graduate of the North High class of 1948. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served in Korea where he was wounded in action. After returning home he married Shirley Clayton and moved to Baltimore to attend Johns Hopkins for engineering, completing his degree at the University of MN. He worked at 3M for 36 years and was director of the automotive and abrasives division in St. Paul. Upon retirement he volunteered with Amicus mentoring inmates; he was on the board for the Society of the Blind; and modeled use of prosthetic limbs at Century College for the Prosthetics Technician Program.
Preceded in death by wife, Sharon; parents, James Drummond and Mary Jane Swan; sister, Jacqueline Siercks. Survived by brother, James III (Martina); sisters, Merrilee Maida, Judith Moris (Donald), Edith Powell (James); children, Cynthia Johnson (Joel), Jeffrey (Roxanne), Paul (Barbara), Barbara (Richard), Laura Lund (David), Victoria Meehan, and Andrew (Kathleen); stepchildren, John (Debbie) Prokosch, Fred (Sue) Prokosch, Karen (Rocky) Reynolds. Lenny Vannelli (Melissa) and Gary Vannelli. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dick will be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandpa, and great grandpa. He was a storyteller and we have good memories for his part in our lives. Rest in peace Pa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday September 21st at 3:00PM at BRADSHAW (4600 Greenhaven Drive White Bear MN 55127) with a visitation beginning one hour before. Interment will be at a later date.
