Robert L. "Bob" Dehncke, Sr. was born May 23, 1939 at Redwood Falls, Minnesota, a son of William and Mildred (Wilhite) Dehncke. He grew up in the Morton area where he received his education. For the past 40 years, he had been self-employed as a truck driver with Central Bi of Redwood Falls, a position he held until ill health forced him to retire in June of this year. On August 6, 1966 Bob was united in marriage to JoAnn Cady at the Church of Christ (Cornerstone Christian Church) in Redwood Falls. They made their home in Morton where he was active in the Morton Lions and enjoyed sporting events. Bob was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church where he had served as a deacon and was part of the Wednesday Night Men's Group. For many years Bob participated in the Redwood Falls Bowling Leagues. He truly loved spending time with his family. All his friends knew him for his wit and humor. Visitors at their home were greeted with a cup of coffee or his koolaid. Bob died on Sunday, November 16, 2002 in his home in Morton surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Morton; children, Julie Wendinger and her husband Pat of Fairfax, Bob Dehncke, Jr. and his wife Jessie of Inver Grove Heights; five grandchildren, Britany Wilkens, Brittany, Katie and Patrick Wendinger and Josalyn Dehncke. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Donald and his wife Mary Jane of Morton, Lloyd of Wichita, KS, Edna Mae Meuller of Minneapolis, Delbert and his wife Bonnie of Topeka, KS, Judy Simning, David and Gary all of Minneapolis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill and Edgar, and sister, Letha.
