Of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away at home following an extended illness. Preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and George; sisters, Agnes and Lucille. He will be deeply missed by his special friend Esther McGinley and his nephews and nieces, John Grudnoske, Arden Hills, MN, Gerald Grudnoske, Arden Hills, MN, Leonard (Cheryl) Grudnoske, Georgene Gross, Bemidji, MN, Gregory (Carol) Gross, Shoreview, MN, Linda Gross, Tenstrike, MN, Mark (Cindi) Gross, Bemidji, MN, Gary (Karen) Gross, Anoka, MN, Michael (Christine) Gross, Thompson Falls, MT, and Brian (Kim Frenzel) Gross, Bemidji, MN. Robert was born in St. Paul, MN to August and Cecilia (nee Ettel) Gross. Robert graduated from St. Agnes High School in St. Paul. He served as a machinist mate aboard the repair ship AJAX in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Following the war, Robert was a machinist for the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement. For many years, Robert was active in his church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third Degree. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 10:00AM at MATERNITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1414 N. Dale Street. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, July 27, 2004 from 6:00-8:00PM at BRADSHAW, 1078 Rice at Magnolia. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Maternity of Mary Catholic Church.
