Robert J (Bob)
Passed away on Oct 27, 2017 at the age of 73 years after a courageous 16 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Walter F and Helen R Kranz and his older brother Walter R Kranz. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cynthia (Anderson), daughter Jennifer McCurdy (Andrew) and son Joseph (Susan Burdick). He is also survived by his grandchildren Kaitlin, Nolan, and Mason McCurdy, Colin and Annabelle Kranz; sister-in-law Barbara Kranz of St Paul, brothers James (Pamela) of Bonita Springs, FL and Thomas (Sharon) of Lino Lakes, loving nieces, nephews and cousins and numerous friends.
Bob was a graduate of St Bernard's High School and St Thomas College. He was very proud to have been a Rice Streeter and felt his blue collar upbringing contributed to a strong set of values that guided him throughout his life.
After graduating from college, Bob was a CPA at Taylor McCaskill, Co. in St Paul for 9 years and then CFO at W A Lang, Co for 27 years.
The most important things in his life were his priorities of God, Family and Country. He loved his various involvements at both Hill-Murray and St Peters. At St. Peters, where he joked that he was on Fr Byrne's speed dial, he was in charge of finances including the fall festival and cemetery committee for many years.
Bob had many interests; he loved downhill skiing and was called "Iron Man" Bob by his ski buddies. He loved sailing, wind surfing, and being the leader of the 4th of July Fish Lake boat parade. He had many wonderful adventures traveling the world with his lifetime companion Cindy and regular trips with 5 other cruise couples. He especially loved spending time with his family at the cabin on Fish Lake, which he called his "happy place" for 31 years. He delighted in beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean, drinking Yuengling beers at Flanigan's, and searching for the best happy hours in Pompano Beach, FL.
